About me

Stephen Hashbarger is a Denver-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer originally from Federal Way, Washington. A lifelong musician, he began playing at a young age and quickly evolved from trumpet to bass and guitar, developing a deep-rooted passion for groove-driven music.

A veteran of the Denver music scene, Stephen has performed at many of the city’s top venues, shared stages with national touring acts, and appeared at festivals including the 2024 Austin Reggae Festival, along with a performance at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.

He is a co-creator and key creative force behind The Step Beats, contributing lead and harmony vocals, multi-instrumentation, and arrangement—helping drive the project to over 100 million streams and more than 200,000 monthly listeners worldwide.

Currently recording under Hashtones, Stephen works out of his home studio crafting immersive, groove-focused music from the ground up. When he’s not creating, he’s spending time with his two daughters or out exploring the world beyond the studio.
